Hunter Mahan: Josh Hamilton Had No Idea What The Masters Was

The PGA Pro recently threw out the first pitch at a Rangers' home game

PGA Pro and Colleyville native Hunter Mahan was recently asked to throw out the first pitch at a Rangers’ home game, which he did. What he did not do is impress Josh Hamilton with his celebrity.

This is because Hamilton didn’t know who Mahan was until they met--and he was wholly unaware that Mahan had played in the Masters last month, because Hamilton apparently didn’t know the Masters was a thing, let alone the biggest golf tournament on the planet.

Josh Hamilton had no idea who I was," Mahan recalled, per the Dallas Morning News. “It was great. After he hit batting practice, he goes, 'So what tournament did you play?' I was like, 'The Masters.' You've got to love the guy. He had no idea what the Masters was.”

As you could probably glean from his remarks, Mahan was hardly offended, and actually found Hamilton’s reaction to his presence in the clubhouse funny. Plus, Mahan got some free Rangers’ gear out of the deal.

"I got a uniform top and a hat," he said. "I wanted a hat more than anything else. I went in the room back there and there were like 2,000 of them. ... I figured if they see me not wearing one they might just toss one to me, so they did, which was nice."
