Holland Pushed Back to Avoid Jays

Derek Holland has been downright bad in his last two starts.

Last time out, Holland was affected by a rain delay of well over an hour that he tried to return from. We'll give him some benefit of the doubt there.

But the start before that in Toronto against the Blue Jays was much different. He was just downright awful, and he allowed 11 earned runs in just a couple of innings.

Even though Holland is on schedule to pitch Sunday in the series finale against the Blue Jays, which is also the series finale unless there's another postseason matchup, he'll be pushed back a day to Monday.

There are a couple of benefits for Holland. One, he'll get an extra day of rest after two horrific outings, but he'll also get to avoid the Blue Jays lineup that was teeing off on him a week ago.

Holland will instead pitch Monday in Oakland to open a three-game set against the much lighter hitting A's.
