Matt Harrison isn't guaranteed to ever pitch in the majors again, and he knows that.
He has a long, hard road to recovery from spinal fusion surgery that was said to be career threatening, and likely still is, but both Harrison and the Rangers seem pretty confident he'll pitch again at some point, it's just a question of when.
Originally, the veteran lefty who has made six starts in the past two seasons, was hoping to pitch by May after starting the season in the minors and ramping up to hitting a big-league mound. Now, it's been announced he'll likely start the season on the 60-day disabled list after suffering from stiffness in his hip due to a mechanics change.
That would mean he'd be back by June at the earliest, and that's OK with Harrison.
"Overall, I can’t complain,” Harrison told The Dallas Morning News on Saturday at Dr Pepper Ballpark. “I feel really good. It’s the most tedious stuff I’ve ever done, but I’ve got to do it all.”
