Gonzalez Set for Frisco Debut

The Texas Rangers haven't had much to look positively upon lately. The team is struggling to hang around .500 and has had a long list of injured players, including several starters who are out for the season and another (Derek Holland) who is still waiting to make his 2014 debut.

The Rangers' top power-hitting prospect, 20-year-old Joey Gallo, made his debut at Double-A Frisco on Monday night and hit a walk-off home run. On Tuesday night, his former Class-A Myrtle Beach teammate and new Frisco teammate Chi Chi Gonzalez will make his Frisco debut as the Rough Riders' starting pitcher.

Gonzalez was the Myrtle Beach leader in wins and ERA and his 2.62 ERA was fifth-best in the Carolina League. He was the Rangers' first-round draft pick last year, and was selected this year as a Carolina League all-star.

So even though there isn't much to look forward to in Arlington at the moment, you can always head out to Frisco and see some of the team's biggest up-and-comers.
