Gallo Has Another Big Game in Round Rock

We've said all along that Triple-A Round Rock would be a really fun team to watch this season, but that was before star prospect Nomar Mazara was called up to the Rangers just a handful of games into the season.

And quite frankly, it doesn't appear Mazara will be going back down any time soon.

But that Round Rock squad still looks like a really fun one to watch with some nice, leftover star power in the form of one-time top prospect Jurickson Profar and slugging phenom Joey Gallo.

They both homered on Tuesday in Round Rock's extra-inning win over Memphis, but it was Gallo who stole the show and continued his hot start at Triple-A.

Gallo homered twice — in the first inning and again in the 12th to eventually win the game.

He's now nearing 10 home runs in less than 20 games, and most importantly, he has just one more strikeout than games played after he finished his 53-game stint in Round Rock last year with 90 strikeouts.

Will Gallo be the next big name called up for the Rangers? Possibly, but it'd likely take another Adrian Beltre injury. Don't sweat it, though, he's probably best served marinating in Round Rock and continuing to improve his plate approach.
