Gallardo Looking to Continue Tremendous Run

Yovani Gallardo was without question the Rangers pitcher of the month in June, and if not for a guy named Max Scherzer, he might just be able to lay claim to the title of best pitcher in baseball over the last month.

Gallardo is currently riding a career-high 23 1/3-inning scoreless streak dating back to the fourth inning of the Rangers' game against Oakland back on June 10 when he had a career-high 10 strikeouts. Since then, it's been all zeroes over his last three starts, and never did he look better than in his last outing against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays might have the most dangerous lineup in baseball and score runs in bunches, and Gallardo ran through them like a hot knife. He lasted 8 1/3 innings and was removed after allowing a hit in the ninth inning, robbing his chance at a complete game but the Rangers still got the shutout to preserve his scoreless-inning streak.

Over his past seven outings, he's seen his ERA decline in each outing all the way down to its current state of a 2.72 ERA in 96 innings of work.

Can you think of anyone you'd rather the Rangers be sending to the mound on Thursday with a chance to win a four-game series over a good Baltimore team? We certainly can't.
