Prince Fielder made a tremendous comeback from cervical fusion surgery in 2014 by putting up some pretty great offensive numbers in 2015 and leading the Rangers in several categories, including batting average and RBIs and tying for the team lead with home runs.
But his home run total wasn't what he hoped, as he continued a downward trend in the power department dating back to his days with the Detroit Tigers.
Since 2012, Fielder's home run totals have dropped each season, throwing out the 2014 season when he only played 42 games, of course.
Though he's hitless so far this spring, Fielder is feeling better than he ever has since joining the Rangers after the 2013 season, and he feels stronger, too. Oh, and any concerns about his repaired neck are also out the window.
“Last year I came into spring with a different attitude,” Fielder told the Star-Telegram. “I was back, but I didn’t know for sure.
“Now I have a whole different attitude. I know I’m capable of playing. I know I’m not going to break it again, and nothing’s going to happen.”
That's bad news for opposing pitchers.
