Edwards' Busy Day Finishes on Mound

Jon Edwards undoubtedly was not concerned with his busy schedule on Wednesday, as a crammed schedule can likely be brushed off when you're getting a shot in the big leagues.

That's exactly what happened for the Keller native on Wednesday as he was called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday morning to give the Rangers' bullpen an extra arm, hopped on a plane from Austin and arrived at Progressive Field in Cleveland in the middle of the Rangers' 12-3 blowout loss to the Indians.

Before Edwards knew it, he was on the mound, finishing out the game with a scoreless ninth inning that featured two strikeouts — a pretty typical outing for the guy who has become a dominant closer for Round Rock since being sent down after one outing in Arlington earlier this season.

On Tuesday for Round Rock, Edwards was turning in his 15th consecutive scoreless outing, and on Wednesday in Cleveland, he made it 16.

He appears to be getting another shot in Jeff Banister's new "role-less" bullpen and could provide another power arm to the unit moving forward.
