For the fourth time this season, Ross Detwiler made a start for the Texas Rangers.
And for the fourth time this season, the Rangers lost said Detwiler start as they fell 2-1 on Tuesday night against Seattle with Detwiler pitching on eight days of rest to try to figure some mechanical things out with pitching coach Mike Maddux.
But Tuesday's loss wasn't Detwiler's fault. He competed and looked pretty strong throughout the night, with the only damage coming in the top of the fourth to the tune of a Nelson Cruz triple and a Rickie Weeks no-doubt home run.
Detwiler didn't get through six innings, but he pitched into the sixth with very minimal damage, which was way more than anything he'd done previously. A guy like Detwiler can't be expected to give you six or seven innings every time out, but if he can consistently get into the sixth inning, that'd be more than enough for the Rangers. Now, if he can just do that consistently. He'll get another shot next week.
