So far in the season's second half, Shin-Soo Choo is batting 1.000.

Don't get too excited. It was only one game, but Saturday's performance from Choo was encouraging to see from a guy who was not only struggling on the field but also seemingly in his head, especially last Sunday when he made a boneheaded mistake in the field that indirectly cost the Rangers a run, and a win.

Choo didn't start on Friday in Houston, a bit of a slap in the face and a wakeup call to a veteran starter coming off a four-day all-star break. He didn't play on Sunday either against one of the game's best left-handed pitchers. But on Saturday, Choo went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two sacrifices.

With another lefty on tap Monday in Colorado, it'll be interesting to see what Jeff Banister does with his lineup. It's hard to imagine him sitting Choo again, but maybe that's what the struggling vet has become — a platoon outfielder.

You'd have to think he'll get another shot on Monday following a really good game on Saturday and a day off on Sunday. The Rangers need Choo to get going, and the only way to accomplish that is to get him in the lineup. We'll have to see if Banister feels the same way.
