Brinson Drives In Five Runs For Frisco

Rangers prospect Lewis Brinson had himself a big night at the ballpark for Frisco. Brinson drove in five runs, hitting a three-run homer and a two-run triple in the Roughriders 11-6 win over Springfield Saturday night.

Brinson has put up some respectable power-numbers at Double-A Frisco, hitting six homers and driving in 28 runs while stealing eight bases in 48 games. He’s struggled keeping his batting average up, hitting at a .227 clip with a 31-22 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 181 plate appearances, but some of that may be attributed to shoulder issues he dealt with earlier this season.

There is still process to be made, but reports are Brinson is hitting the ball hard now and it looks like there’s less holes in the swing. Saturday night was a prime example.

It could just be a matter of time before he climbs up the ladder to Triple-A Round Rock with a chance to be in Arlington for September call-ups. Many envision Brinson as the centerfielder of the future for the Ranger.

But for now, it’s time to enjoy watching Brinson do work at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco. First pitch tonight in the series finale against the Cardinals is at 6:05 p.m. in Frisco.
