Beltre Due for a Day Off

Adrian Beltre is the only Rangers player to have played in every game so far this year, and it's about time that streak ends.

The 37-year-old third baseman doesn't want to take a day off, so Jeff Banister is just going to have to keep him off the field soon. Not only will it be good for his aging body, but it might just do him some good at the plate, as well.

Beltre is mired in a .182 slump dating back over the last 12 games after his batting average reached .344 back on April 22. Since then, he has six hitless games in those 12.

The Rangers have to have Beltre carrying the lineup from the No. 3 hole, or their lineup just doesn't pop the same.

So while he might fight like hell against it, it might be time to just force the issue and sit him down for a game soon. He'll thank you later, Banny.
