Banister Sets Rotation After Gallardo

It's been known now for a while that newly acquired Yovani Gallardo would be the Texas Rangers Opening Day starter — his sixth straight Opening Day start going back to his days with the Milwaukee Brewers.

For just as long, it's been suspected that projected ace Derek Holland would be the starter when the Rangers open their home schedule next Friday against Houston. Other than that, it wasn't quite set.

On Wednesday, new manager Jeff Banister made it all official when he filled in the gaps between Gallardo on Monday and Holland on Friday.

After Gallardo, the Rangers will roll out Colby Lewis, Ross Detwiler and Nick Martinez in Oakland before heading home Friday to start Holland against the Astros. From that point, Holland and Gallardo will be pitching back-to-back.
