Arbitration: Neal Cotts

Arbitration is never a fun thing for either party involved, and the Rangers have some decisions to make this offseason with some arb-eligible players.

Player: Neal Cotts, LHP

2013 stats: 8-3 record, 1.11 ERA, 65 strikeouts, 18 walks, 57 innings

Of note: Cotts was one of the great stories in professional baseball this year. The 33-year-old had been a journeyman who had almost retired a couple of times and hadn't pitched in the big leagues since 2009. Cotts battled numerous injuries and just basic ineffectiveness and was effectively left for dead in the baseball world. Then, the Rangers and Jon Daniels took a no-risk flier on him, and it paid off massively. He's not a free agent until 2015. He's looks set to make somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.5-2 million in 2014 after his stellar 2013, and that number would dwarf his previous high salary.
