Alberto Aiming for Batting Title

Texas Rangers backup infielder Hanser Alberto had a decent run down the stretch of the 2015 season, replacing the injured Adrian Beltre in the ALDS and coming up with a couple of big RBIs.

Now, he's dominating the Dominican winter league and is in line to win the batting crown for the league, which ends its season on Monday night.

Alberto had three hits on Sunday night to raise his batting average to .364 in 154 at-bats, which leads the race by eight points over his teammate Gabriel Roza.

Alberto is a nice bet to be the Rangers' utility infielder in 2016 after he served in the same capacity for a good chunk of 2015 after the Rangers moved on from veteran Adam Rosales. Alberto was a gold glove shortstop in the minors and can be second base, short and third base all effectively and could probably play first base in a pinch.
