AL West Watch: Pujols Has Surgery

Albert Pujols enjoyed a resurgent 2015 season with the Los Angeles Angels, as he and Mike Trout basically carried the Angels lineup to within a game of a playoff appearance. Pujols hit 40 homers for the first time since 2010 when he was still in St. Louis, so it was easily his best season yet with the Angels.

The Angels announced on Monday that Pujols had surgery to repair a plate in his right foot, and he'll be set to resume baseball activities in about four-and-a-half months.

That timeline would put him back in action right around the season opener on April 4, but that's assuming no setbacks whatsoever, and with Pujols being 35 — or so he claims — that's a lot to ask.

It doesn't sound Pujols will be out of action for too long once the 2016 season begins, but if the Angels' offense is like it was last year, it's going to be awfully reliant on Pujols' production.
