The Texas Rangers know all about disabled list moves this year, leading all of baseball in that department, unfortunately.
On Tuesday, the Rangers' two biggest rivals made some pretty key moves involving the DL — one for the better and one not so much.
The division-leading Oakland A's sent outfielder Josh Reddick to the disabled list with a nagging knee injury that will require him to be shut down for about 10 days and then re-evaluated. His MRI revealed no structural damage. Reddick has struggled this season, but is one of those streaky players that can get hot and carry a team for a week or two, and he does have power.
Second-place Los Angeles activated former Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton off the disabled list, where he's been since April 8 after storming out of the gates to start the season by hitting .444 with two homers and six RBIs in the Angels' first eight games.
In his return on Tuesday night against the Astros, Hamilton homered again in an Angels loss. If he can pick up where he left off, it's going to give an already-good Angels team a huge boost and could all but sink the Rangers' hopes of getting in the playoffs as a wild card.
