Josh Hamilton Sued Over ‘Play Hard, Pray Harder'

A small Texas startup has sued former American League MVP Josh Hamilton over a "Play Hard, Pray Harder" clothing line sold by a company the slugger's wife helped launch.

The federal lawsuit accuses North Carolina-based ScriptureArt of using a slogan already claimed by Dallas-based Play Hard Pray Harder LLC. Corporate filings show the Texas company formed in January.

ScriptureArt founder Kelly Shiley said Saturday the Hamiltons are no longer involved with the company.  She said she was unaware of the lawsuit and declined to comment.

The suit was filed Friday, one day before the Los Angeles Angels were set to introduce Hamilton, who signed as a free agent this week.

Hamilton has modeled a T-shirt for ScriptureArt featuring the slogan on the front and his name on the back.
