Zach Galifianakis Comedy Going Straight to Video? Seriously?

"Operation Endgame" is so loaded with talent that its direct-to-DVD release can only mean one of two things: It's the worst movie of 2010 or the folks at Anchor Bay have just given up.

The film, which bears the tagline "Two rival teams of assassins. One killer day at the office," stars Zach Galifianakis, Rob Corddry, Adam Scott, Maggie Q, Odette Yustman, Ving Rhames, Jeffrey Tambor and Bob Odenkirk.

From the film's website comes this synopsis:

Miles beneath the streets of Los Angeles lies the heavily fortified headquarters of "The Factory," an elite espionage cell unacknowledged by the U.S. government stuffed with files on shocking covert actions and balanced by competing teams of lethal operatives. But when a rogue agent murders their boss, the facility's lockdown self-destruct mechanism is instantly activated. Now the clock is ticking, the only escape route is unknown, and our nation's most eccentric assassins have been given their final order: Terminate each other on sight.

Considering how hot Galifinakis and and Corddry are, the idea that Anchor Bay can't get this thing into theaters boggles the mind. If the toe-curlingly dreadful "Cop Out" could find it's way onto 3,150 screens, surely "Operation: Endgame" could play somewhere.

We've watched the expletive-laden trailer, and frankly we're a little stoked to see this thing. It'll be available on DVD and Blu-ray July 27.
