Welcome to Watch List, where we identify five things on TV to watch while you stay at home and bust out your cinnamon bun candle from Bath and Body Works. Mmmmm, that smells so good. WHY CAN’T I EAT IT? LET’S GO!
PARTY DOWN AND GRAVITY – 10:00PM & 10:30PM Friday (Starz), repeated Saturday 3:10PM and 10:50PM Tonight is the season premiere of “Party Down,” which loses comic mastermind Jane Lynch to “Glee” and replaces her in spirit with Emmy hog Megan Mullally, whose last name serves as its own tongue twister. Here’s a fun fact for you: “Party Down” star Adam Scott will be joining the cast of “Parks and Recreation” later this year. And Mullally was a guest star on that exact same show earlier this year. Coincidence? OR CONSPIRACY? Anyway, my boy Jack adores this show and says you should watch it and stuff.
“Gravity” is a new show that premieres tonight. It’s about a support group for people who have attempted suicide. BUT IT’S A COMEDY! I did not see that twist coming. Ving Rhames is on it, so there’s that. And Robert Klein makes a cameo. Make of that what you will. It’s a new show on a cable channel that is apparently willing to take a few chances, so you may wanna check it out. ANTICIPATION: LAUGHZ
SNL – 11:30PM Saturday (NBC) Your host is Gabourey Sidibe and your musical guest is MGMT. It should be just as funny as “Precious,” a film I watched on mute with the Benny Hill soundtrack playing in the background. Changes the whole tone of the flick. ANTICIPATION: OPRAH SKETCH AHOY
WHEN LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH: THE LOIS WILSON STORY – 9:00PM Sunday (CBS) It’s a good old-fashioned TV move tearjerker about the woman who founded Al-Anon, the support group for families of alcoholics. Winona Ryder plays the title role. Let us hope she didn’t steal any whisky from the craft services van during production. Because that would undercut the whole message. ANTICIPATION: GLUG GLUG GLUG
CHALLENGE – 8:00PM Sunday (Food Network) Tonight’s challenge: Bake a high school reunion cake. High school reunions have cakes? Are they filled with gin and birth control? ANTICIPATION: AWKWARD
CUT IT IN HALF – 9:00PM Sunday (NatGeo – an NBC/Universal network) Tonight, they cut an entire 727 in half, to see what’s inside. Join them next week, when they do the same thing to a cat. Really looking forward to that one. ANTICIPATION: HALF EXCITED
