Trailer for “The Illusionist,” From Director of “Triplets of Belleville,” Hits

A trailer for "The Illusionist," from "Triplets of Belleville" director Sylvain Chomet, has the innernutz abuzz.

Unfortunately, the trailer is for the film's release in Russia, so all the title cards are in Cyrillic. Still, the two-minutes clip promises more of the same soulful animation that made "Triplets" so beautiful.

The story centers around an aging magician who is beginning to feel his livelihood threatened by the advent of rock 'n' roll, only to meet a young girl who believes in his illusions.

The first clips of the film were shown at Cannes in 2008, but the movie didn't make its world premiere until this Berlinale in February. The film doesn't yet have distribution in the U.S., bu tit's a safe bet that will soon be rectified.
