“The Darkest Hour” Drops a Techno Video Posing as a Trailer

Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella are three of the more talented 26-and-under actors in Hollywood, each having appeared in films that were nominated for Best Picture. And yet, none are big stars, and they tend to lean towards smaller, indie/art-house fare. And so all three have found their way into "The Darkest Hour."

The film tells the story of a group of Westerners visiting Moscow when an alien invasion falls from the skies, targeting world's biggest cities, forcing the kids to fight for survival. Think "Attack the Block" for upper-middle class American post-grad students.

A new international trailer has arrived from Fox Singapore (by way of The Playlist), and in the interest appealing to a non-English-speaking audience, there is virtually zero dialogue--heck, there's barely any sound effects, just the thump-thump-thump of a techno beat. It's kinda funny.

"The Darkest Hour" opens Christmas Day.
