Just the other day Rosamund Pike was a finalist to be Superman's new leading lady. Oh what a precipitous fall...

Instead, Pike is taking over the role of Andromeda in "Wrath of the Titans," reported Deadline. Andromeda was previously played by Alexa Davalos, a career B-movie hottie, who inexplicably is unavailable for the role.

On Sunday the tubes were abuzz with word that Pike was up against Alice Eve and Diane Kruger for the female lead in director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel reboot that's being "godfathered" by Chris Nolan.

We're big Pike fans, having been wowed by her subtlety in "An Education" and her range and depth in "Barney's Version." We still think Kruger will end up opposite Superman, but Pike deserves better than to be Kraken bait.
