We're days away from the wildly anticipated release of "Eclipse," the third film in the box-office busting "Twilight" series. Meanwhile the franchise's vampire stud and leading man Robert Pattinson has just gotten around to really watching the first film.

Pattinson admitted as much at the film's press day and said "Twilight" left him a little confused.

"I just saw "Twilight on TV for the first time a couple of days ago," he said -- a semi-shocking revelation considering he's about to start shooting the fourth book.

"Even when I was watching Twilight the other day, now when I’ve seen it, you kind of need to read the book to get it," he added. "I was like, ‘what?’"

"And I’m in it."

Pattinson added that he did speak the commentary for the film for the "Twilight" DVD release, so clearly he watched some of it at that point. But this was clearly the first time he really took it all in.

Other than feeling slightly lost, the shy mega-star was also surprised he had the brass to put his songs on the first soundtrack. He insisted that if he knew how big the movies would be, and the accompanying soundtracks, he never would have agreed to expose himself like that.

"It's bizarre I actually had those songs in the movie," he said. "I'm kind of amazed Catherine (Hardwicke, the director of the first) did it. It shows how none of us thought it was going to be so massive."

It also means he realizes the dizzying heights he's at now. Which means he won't be putting any more soundtrack songs up anytime soon. People are actually watching these things.

"I didn't think anyone would buy the (first) soundtrack, so it's a little more nerve-wracking now," Pattinson said.
