“Piranha” Director Alexandre Aja Sprouting “Horns”

Alexandre Aja, director of "Piranha," one of the best gore-fests in recent memory, is teaming up on a new film with the son of the master of modern horror.

Aja is set to direct an adaptation of "Horns," from Joe Hill, creator of "Locke & Key" and son of Stephen King, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The novel tells the story of a young man who had it all, only to descend into a year of heavy drinking after the rape and murder of his girlfriend. After one particularly rough night, he awakens--we'll let Hill describe it himself:

Ignatius Martin Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke the next morning with a headache, put his hands to his temples, and felt something unfamiliar, a pair of knobby pointed protuberances. He was so ill—wet-eyed and weak—he didn’t think anything of it at first, was too hungover for thinking or worry.

But when he was swaying above the toilet, he glanced at himself in the mirror over the sink and saw he had grown horns while he slept. He lurched in surprise, and for the second time in twelve hours he pissed on his feet.

Ignatius, naturally, suspects that the horns on his head are in someone related to what happened to his girlfriend. Sounds like fun, right?
