Paris Hilton Promises Raw Reality On New Series

It’s Paris Hilton’s world: we just live in it.

The world’s most famous celebutante is returning to the reality TV landscape that helped launch her, this time with an emphasis on “reality” – or at least what passes for it in the heiress’ rarefied air. Unlike the road-tripping stunts of “The Simple Life” or the frenetic frienemy competitiveness of “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF,” her new Oxygen series “The World According to Paris” promises to take an uncontrived look into producer-star Hilton’s day-to-day life, and she tells PopcornBiz even she had to brace herself for living life unedited.

“I want it to be the best show possible, so there were a lot of things where I'm like 'Oh, my God, I want to cut that out,' but I let it go,” Hilton admits. “I put my producer hat on and I thought ‘This is great TV,’ and even though it's really personal and there's things in there that I never thought in a million years I would show on camera I do show them. And I was like ‘My parents are going to watch this – oh my goodness!’ But it's real.”

“That's where she's tough,” says her mother Kathy Hilton, a prominent presence on the show. “I'll say, 'I don't like that I did that,' and she'll say 'Mom, I asked you to be involved with this. You signed up for it.' She's a tough boss. I've never worked with her liked this. She's a very, very serious businesswoman, and she's becoming a director as well as a producer.”

Hilton admits handling the highs and lows of her always-in-the-lens life hasn’t been an easy experience.

“Everyone goes through things – that's part of life,” she says, “but I have to live in front of the camera and I have TMZ following every day, so that makes it harder. But I feel like it's made me who I am today. I'm such a strong person and I've been through hell and back, but it's made me appreciate life so much more. It's been really hard, but that's what life is about. Now it's better than ever.”
