Mr. T claimed he was allergic to the trees on his Lake Forest estate.
The new “A Team” movie opens this week, and there’s one person who won’t be putting on his best feather earrings to attend the premiere: Mr. T himself. The original star of the TV show blasted the new flick as a repository of sex, violence and filth. From Jam! Showbiz:
And after seeing a preview of the film, he admits he's shocked with how graphic it is.
Mr. T says, "People die in the film and there's plenty of sex but when we did it, no one got hurt and it was all played for fun and family entertainment. These seem to be elements nobody is interested in anymore.
"It was too graphic for me. I've no doubt it will do big business at the box office but it's nothing like the show we turned out every week."
See now, this is why I never really got into watching the old “A Team” as a kid. Mr. T doesn’t like the sex and violence and killing, but that was ALL I wanted from the original show. Instead, they just drove around in a van. And some old dude smoked a cigar. It was not the most intense show on television. So I’m actually encouraged by T’s hatred of the new movie. That means cool stuff happens in it. Also, I imagine T is still upset that no one uses 1-800-COLLECT in the movie. Or 10-10-220. Or whatever number it was.
Anyway, Mr. T is a devout Christian, which is probably why he dislikes a lot of this graphic stuff. Also, Mr. T beat cancer, and he’s not particularly interested in pop culture that has negative stuff like assault and battery and not positive stuff like MR. T TAKING CANCER OUT THE BACK AND GIVIN’ IT A FINE WHOOPIN’.
But hey, to each their own. Just because Mr. T doesn’t like the new “A Team” doesn’t mean you won't. Or perhaps you’ll dislike it for a whole other reason. Maybe it won’t be violent ENOUGH. Or maybe you kinda hate Bradley Cooper’s smug face. There’s really no wrong way to hate a new movie.
