Leonardo da Vinci is revered for being a great artist, brilliant inventor and all-around genius, so superhero shouldn't be a stretch.
Warner Bros. has picked up a treatment titled "Leonardo da Vinci and the Soldiers of Forever," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The title's a little jarring," but we're working with it. The project re-imagines Da Vinci as a member of a secret society who falls into a supernatural adventure that pits the man against Biblical demons in a story involving secret codes, lost civilizations, hidden fortresses and fallen angels.
The big question would naturally be, who will play the role of the world's greatest thinker turned secret-society-superhero? And for the man who conceptualized the helicopter and the tank centuries before their time, will there be any factual fudging for Da Vinci's crime-fighting tools?
All will be revealed. THR reports that Warner Bros. is eager to make more projects involving a period setting, a historical figure and the fantastical. While judgment day will come soon enough on this dubious trend, the studio has also picked up a supernatural tale featuring Marco Polo and a King Arthur project with Guy Ritchie.
