“Kung Fu Panda 2” Gets the Charlie Kaufman Treatment

Charlie Kaufman, the demented genius behind "Being John Malkovich," was hired to put the finishing touches of "Kung Fu Panda 2." Weird, right?

Kaufman spent two weeks polishing “Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom” at the behest of DreamWorks, reported Heat Vision.

Yes, the idea of someone like Kaufman, who's written films like "The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "Synedoche, New York" and "Adaptation," writing something as pedestrian as "Kaboom" is amusing. But Charlie Kaufman's like the rest of us, he's got bills to pay.

And let's not forget, Kaufman spent a year writing for "The Dana Carvey Show," so it's not like this is his first trip to the shallow end of the pool.

The sequel will bring back Jack Black, Angelina Jolie and friends for a June 2011 release.
