Dano Joining De Niro for “Another Night in Suck City”

Paul Dano will play the beleaguered son of an alcoholic Robert De Niro in an adaption of Nick Flynn's 2004 memoir, "Another Bulls*** Night in Suck City," reported The Wrap.

Flynn worked at Boston's Pine Street Inn, a homeless shelter, where he was reunited with his ne'er-do-well father. Here's the publisher's synopsis:

Nick Flynn met his father when he was working as a caseworker in a homeless shelter in Boston. As a teenager he'd received letters from this stranger father, a self-proclaimed poet and con man doing time in federal prison for bank robbery. Another Bulls*** Night in Suck City tells the story of the trajectory that led Nick and his father onto the streets, into that shelter, and finally to each other.

It's a great read, with a remarkably honest voice. Flynn manages to look on his own life with an unflinching, and never resorts to melodrama.

Director Paul Wietz (the dreadful new Vince Vaughn film "The Dilemma") will be working with a script he adapted himself. Let's hope he shows the material the respect it deserves.

Dano can be seen this year alongside Michelle Williams in "Meek's Cutoff," with Daniel Craig in "Cowboys & Aliens," and will soon start filming the new Rian Johnson film "Looper." De Niro can currently be seen lighting up the screen in Little Fockers," and will be chasing Bradley Cooper thorough New York City this spring in "Limitless."
