Christoph Waltz's victory in this category has been a forgone conclusion, so it comes as no surprise.Still he was visibly thrilled and grateful to Quentin Tarantino and the Academy.

"This is you welcoming embrace and there is no way I can ever thank you, but I can start right now," said Waltz.

The award, one of more than two dozen he's received for the role, was as deserved as it was expected.
