Cannes Competitor “The Artist” Drops a Gorgeous Trailer

The feeding frenzy at this year's Cannes film festival kicked off with The Weinstein Company scooping up "The Artist." And now that the rights have been secured, TWC has wasted no time in releasing a truly stunning trailer.

The film, from writer-director Michel Hazavanicius and starring Jean Dujardin, is silent black-and-white film about the diverging fortunes of a silent film star and a beautiful young extra, played by Bérénice Bejo,  at the dawn of the age of the talkie. The film also stars John Goodman, Penelope Ann Miller, Missi Pyle and James Cromwell.

There's music and dancing and a love story, as well as nods to "The Thin Man" and "All About Eve," and is just nice to look at at.

If Dujardin seems vaguely familiar, it's because he's collaborated with Hazavanicius in the past on the "OSS" series of spy spoofs.
