McCray Dealing With Ankle Injury

As we pointed out on Monday, the Dallas Cowboys are nearing full strength, but aren’t quite there, yet. Jason Hatcher is dealing with a calf strain and, as it turns out, defensive back and special teams ace Danny McCray has a sprained ankle.

McCray suffered the injury on a punt return during last Sunday’s 34-30 loss to the Detroit Lions. He played the rest of that game and is expected to play against New England next Sunday, but the injury kept him out of practice last week and limited into the beginning of this week.

I’m doing my rehab,” McCray said, per ESPN Dallas. “I went out there today and broke a little sweat to see how it felt and it felt pretty good … I played the rest of the game with it so that was good. I can play through the pain as long as it’s something tolerable.”

McCray led the team in special teams last year, his rookie season, with 28. Over four games in 2011, he has ten.
