Jerry Jones: Cowboys Have To “Fight It Out, Right Down To The Wire”

With two straight losses, Dallas is now on the outside of the playoff picture looking in

With the knowledge that his team missed on a golden opportunity to secure a playoff spot over the past two weeks, Cowboys’ owner and general manager Jerry Jones says the team’s focus is now on grinding out the season to it’s hopefully not bitter end.

Jones discussed his team’s chances Tuesday in his bi-weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan, and was matter-of-fact when discussing the opportunity lost by two late collapses, to the Cardinals and Giants. If the team would have won those games, paired with the Giants’ loss last week to Green Bay, they could have wrapped up a division title and a playoff berth.

Instead, they lost both, meaning that as of now, Dallas is on the outside of the playoff picture looking in.

"I would have liked to have been closed out right now," Jones said, via ESPN Dallas. "If we had won the last two games, that would have happened. But the reality of it is, they cut their guys, they're motivated to. Who is 'they'? They are the rest of the teams in the NFL. It shouldn't surprise us, here we are leading the league, and I'm not being facetious, but leading our division, but we got to fight it out, right down to the wire."
