Fiammetta Remains A Question Mark With Illness

Fullback Tony Fiammetta missed the Washington game with an undisclosed illness

Fullback Tony Fiammetta remains a question mark this week, with an undisclosed illness that kept him out of practice all of last week and on the sidelines for the Cowboys’ overtime victory over Washington on Sunday. Which is to say, the mystery illness could keep him out of the Thanksgiving Day game against Miami, as well.

Head coach Jason Garrett told reporters this week that the medical staff isn’t concerned about the illness in the sense that it could be a long-term sort of thing; aside from that, though, the team really doesn’t seem to know much else about the illness.

We do not have an idea,” Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. “He’s been sick the last week or so, so we are just kind of attending to those symptoms as much as anything else. We are hopeful he can be around as soon as possible, but we will continue to test him to see how he’s doing to get him back to full strength. So, it’s a short week, so it will be interesting to see if he can progress enough to play in this ballgame.”

In a season that has seen a return to a consistent run game by Dallas, Fiammetta has been credited for having a key role in the offense, and the run game in particular. Obviously, Dallas doesn’t want to rush him back, but then again, there’s no doubt that they’ll want him out there if it’s possible.
