Cowboys Sign RB Sammy Morris

With DeMarco Murray out for the year, Dallas will look to the veteran to help in the running game

With DeMarco Murray done for the year with a broken ankle, the Dallas Cowboys signed veteran running back and Texas Tech product Sammy Morris on Tuesday, reports ESPN Dallas.

At 34, Morris is an 11-year veteran of the league. He has spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and, most recently, the New England Patriots. Morris was cut by the Pats after training camp and has been out of the league since, though he did work out for Kansas City earlier this year.

Dallas made room for Morris on the roster by placing Murray on injured reserve, officially ending an impressive, but all-too-short rookie season for the Oklahoma product. Safety Barry Church, who will likely require shoulder surgery, was placed on the IR as well.
