Abe Elam Back At Valley Ranch Following Father's Passing

Elam flew to Florida on Thursday to be with his family, following his father's passing

After spending the night in Florida following the death of his father, Cowboys’ safety Abram Elam is back at Valley Ranch today.

Elam flew back home to be with his family in Florida on Thursday, after he learned of his father’s death. Jerry Jones made his plane available to Elam, who plans on playing this Sunday against the Cardinals in Arizona, while head coach Jason Garrett said the team would do whatever it could to support Elam.

“What we’ve tried to express to him is that he has great organizational support, support from his team, support from all his teammates and his coaches to help him try to get through it,” Garrett said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “Jerry, you know, has been very kind and generous enough to fly him back to Florida last night and get him back this morning. So he was able to be with his family last night.”

Elam, in his sixth year in the NFL, followed defensive coordinator Rob Ryan to Dallas from Cleveland. On the year, he has been credited with 47 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
