Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will be behind the wheel of the pace car on Sunday during NASCAR’s Duck Commander 500 Sprint Cup race at the Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, joining just four other other celebrities/athletes to do so.
"I'm honored to be asked to drive the pace car on Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway," Witten told the team's official website. "I'll be in town to cheer on Denny Hamlin and the #11 FedEx team and raise awareness for their special March of Dimes paint scheme, and it will be a cool experience to get behind the wheel before the drop of the green flag."
Actor Vince Vaughn was the first celebrity to ever drive the pace car during a NASCAR race at TMS, in 2007. Dallas Stars legend Mike Modano led the pack in 2010 and then-Rangers pitcher CJ Wilson did it in 2011. Last year, WWE wrestler Shawn Michaels drove the pace care for the NRA 500.
Driving the Chevrolet SS Official Pace Car, Witten will have some help out there in the form of NASCAR pace car driver Brett Bodine.
