Jason Witten Quietly Makes Some History

Witten now owns the franchise record for consecutive games with a catch

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten quietly made some history on Sunday, but if you blinked, you missed it.

Witten had just one catch in the loss to the Bills, for 12 yards, on two targets.

But it marked Witten’s 118th consecutive game with a reception, moving him past Michael Irvin for the franchise record.

Obviously, we like Witten,” Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said after the loss, per the Dallas Morning News. "We throw him the ball a lot. There were some protection opportunities for him in this game, and there were some other opportunities where he did run routes and maybe he got a little bit more attention from their linebackers and their interior defenders.”

On the year, Witten has 71 catches for 655 yards and two touchdowns. His two targets on Sunday were the fewest he’s seen in any game this season.
