Witten: Garrett's Been Great, But “The Wins Haven't Shown It”

Garrett is 15-13 as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys

Veteran tight end Jason Witten believes in his head coach, but he understands well that the Cowboys’ record under Garrett doesn’t exactly inspire a ton of confidence on the part of the team’s very large and very passionate fan base. To wit, Garrett is 2-2 this season; last year, in his first full season as head coach, his team went 8-8.

Overall, Garrett is 15-13 as ahead coach in the NFL.

That said, whatever the issues that have kept the team more or less treading water since Garrett took over back in the middle of the 2010 season, Witten doesn’t believe that the Princeton grad is part of the problem.

Jason’s been great,” Witten said, per the Dallas Morning News. “The wins haven’t shown it but Jason is a great coach. I can’t speak more highly about any coach I’ve had. He does a tremendous job of laying it out there and giving you the game plan to go succeed with the adjustments and all that goes in. He’s doing a phenomenal job. We just got to play better.”
