Witten Believes 2010 Season Is His Best Yet

It doesn’t take a refined football mind to realize that, among the garbage that this season has produced, tight end Jason Witten is having a really, really good year. According to Witten himself, it is his best year to date, which, considering the Tennessee product’s track record, is quite the statement.

I think so,” said Witten, when asked if he was having his best season, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “When you look at blocking, catches, touchdowns and everything, I think so.”

Quite the statement indeed, but again, Witten is having a banner season. With two games to go, Witten has a team-high 82 catches for 911 yards, and it wouldn’t be all that unreasonable to think that he has a shot at matching or surpassing his career-high 96 catches.

The majority of Witten’s work has come with backup Jon Kitna under center, and the rapport between the two has become stronger in the past month, a span which has seen two ten-catch performances from Witten, each resulting in around a hundred yards.

“You have to take advantage of the opportunity you get,” Witten said. “That’s what this is about.”
