“Change” was a popular word around Valley Ranch following the Cowboys’ 35-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but on Sunday, your Dallas Cowboys will look much the same as they have for the past eight, forgettable weeks.
Wade Phillips said on Wednesday that, though distribution of playing time may change, the starters will remain.
"There’s some people I’d like to demote, but they’re sitting in this room," Phillips joked, per ESPN Dallas, referring to the reporters at Valley Ranch.
Asked if the reporters were to blame for the team’s woes, Phillips got serious, and a little doleful.
"No. I'm causing the problems,” Phillips said. “I'm the one that's responsible, and I'm going to get this team going better. I was trying to be facetious."
Of course, the starters are the starters for a reason, namely that they’ve been deemed the group that gives Dallas the best chance to win. That said, it would be refreshing to see the winds of change affect more than just the recently released Jason Williams, who had been inactive the past two games, anyway.
