Will Josh Brent Play Against Giants?

Brent is eligible to play Sunday for the first time since 2012

Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent will finally be eligible to return to action on Sunday night against the Giants, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will.

"He's certainly part of the defensive line rotation that we are evaluating and we will just see how he practices," said head coach Jason Garrett, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. "He has made a lot of strides each day that he has practiced. You can really see it as a coach, tangibly. Hopefully that will continue."

Brent hasn’t played in an NFL game since December of 2012. We’d imagine that if he’s close enough to football shape by the time Sunday rolls around, the team will have to seriously consider placing him in the defensive line rotation.

"One thing about Josh is that he is very athletic," Garrett said. "He is athletic with his feet. He is athletic with his hands. He can get off of blocks. Those are the traits you are looking for. He is a competitive guy. He is a tough guy. He is in the stage of trying to get his body right and his feet underneath him."
