Will Josh Brent Attend Offseason Workouts?

The Cowboys offseason workout program kicks off at Valley Ranch on Monday

The Dallas Cowboys “voluntary” offseason workout program is set to begin on Monday at Valley Ranch and some are wondering if nose tackle Josh Brent will make an appearance.

Of course, Brent is facing intoxication manslaughter charges stemming from the single car accident that killed his best friend and Cowboys practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown, Jr. back in December.

But Brent hasn’t been suspended by either the league or the Cowboys--both seem content to hold off on making a decision until the legal process plays out--and his court date isn’t until September.

Which means, to be technical about it, there’s nothing stopping the nose tackle from joining his teammates at Valley Ranch.

From a practical standpoint, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram points out that there might not be much of a point to attending the workouts if you’re Brent. Because, no matter the ruling by the courts, and barring an unthinkable turn of events, Brent won’t be playing football in 2013.
