Less than a year ago, the New Orleans Saints signed outside linebacker Junior Galette to a new four-year, $41.5 million deal and made him a defensive captain. Last Friday, after the relationship between the pass rusher and the team soured to the point of no return, the Saints cut ties with Galette.

So could the Cowboys be interested?

Probably not, according to Peter King of Sports Illustrated.

Galette has 22 sacks over the past two seasons, but it’s worth noting that even after that outpouring, the Saints were willing to take a financial hit just to get rid of him this summer. He was charged with domestic violence stemming from an incident early this year, but the charges were eventually dismissed. He was also the alleged subject of a YouTube video that purportedly shows him hitting a woman with a belt at Miami Beach in 2013. No charges have ever been filed in that case, but the NFL is reportedly still investigating.

When King was asked about the possibility of the Cowboys pursuing Galette on Twitter recently, he responded, “I think Jerry has reached his turd quota.” This is presumably in reference to the biggest free agent signing of the Cowboys’ offseason, Greg Hardy, who, as you’ve probably heard, has a less than sterling off-field history himself.
