We had been operating under the assumption that no one really cared about the NFL preseason.
But when word got out that the Dallas Cowboys’ preseason schedule was altered to accommodate a One Direction concert at AT&T Stadium on August 24, a few fans were apparently pretty upset.
According to the Daily Mirror (U.K.), fans of “America’s Team” took to Twitter to lash out and even lob threats at the boy band for “f****** up” the season. Kind of a harsh accusation, considering we’re talking about meaningless exhibition games, here, but the vitriol didn’t stop there.
Per the Mirror, other users threatened to “hunt the boys down” and “punch their smug little faces.”
Usually, because they spend training camp in Oxnard, CA, the Cowboys prefer to play their first two preseason games on the west coast before returning home for the final two. But this year, they’re alternating home and away games in order to accommodate the boy band, who will take over JerryWorld in Week Three of the preseason. They will be back home the next week, to finish up the preseason against the Broncos.
