Weeden Shines in Texans' Win

Brandon Weeden was winless in his three starts for the Dallas Cowboys this season after he took over in a Week 2 win in Philly for the injured Tony Romo.

Two of those games were far from being his fault, as he played well enough to win in games against Atlanta and New Orleans, only to see his defense fail late.

Even still, Weeden was eventually benched in favor of Matt Cassel, which no one really quibbled with at the time in what seemed to be the right move. Ever heard of hindsight? Well, we have, and we were all wrong.

Cassel was awful, as well, and didn't even put up numbers like Weeden did. When Tony Romo returned from his first broken collarbone, it meant the end of Weeden's tenure in Dallas and the former Oklahoma State star caught on with the Houston Texans.

Of course, just a couple of weeks later, Texans starter Brian Hoyer suffered his second concussion in a month and that thrust Weeden into the starting role. All he's done is win two games, including Sunday's rout of the Titans in which he passed for two scores and rushed for another to keep the Texans in first place in the awful AFC South with one week to play.

So guess what? Weeden could be starting in a playoff game in a couple of weeks. About that hindsight thing...
