Washington's Shaq Thompson to Visit Cowboys

Thompson played linebacker, safety and some running back for the Huskies

The Dallas Cowboys are one of a handful of teams who will host the University of Washington’s Shaq Thompson for a pre-draft visit.

What position Thompson will play in the NFL is still less than clear. He played linebacker, safety and some running back for the Huskies but last week, he declared that he did not intend to play running back as a professional.

He went through both linebacker and safety drills at Washington’s Pro Day, and wrote afterward in a USA Today Draft Diary post that of the two, he’d prefer linebacker.

I'm open to safety, but my heart is still at linebacker,” Thompson wrote. “Definitely still not open to running back. It's my business and I don't personally want to play running back.

Longevity has something to do with it, but I just want to play defense.

“I had two private workouts with the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns in March, before my pro day. I have workouts coming up with the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons. And I have some visits, too. I'm going to Dallas, Minnesota, Indianapolis and that's all I know of so far."
