D-Ware Looking to Make Up for Lost Time

DeMarcus Ware has missed the past three games with a strained quad

Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware has finished on the outside of the top ten in sacks just once in his career. That was his rookie season. But having missed the past three games with a quad strain, he’s fallen behind in the race and currently sits at 37th in the league.

When he returns to the starting lineup Sunday Night against the Saints, Ware hopes to make up for all that lost time.

“I’m behind so I guess I’ve got to hop on the saddle and start riding a little bit,” Ware said, per ESPN Dallas.

Ware has four sacks of Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees for his career, but admits that getting to Brees--and actually getting him to the turf--isn’t an easy task.

“It’s hard to get him down,” Ware said. “He’s very elusive. He actually can throw with his left hand and flip it with his right. He finds a way to get the ball off. He has a lot of weapons on his offense, so you’ve got to find some way, first of all, to stop the run and you have to get pressure on him. That’s the key. You have to get pressure on him.”
