Ware Honored, Motivated By No. 6 Ranking In NFL Top 100

DeMarcus Ware was recently voted the 6th best player in the NFL in a player poll

According to a recent poll of NFL players conducted by the NFL Network, Cowboys’ linebacker DeMarcus Ware is the sixth best player in the league, and the second best defender. Ware has long been thought of as one of the elite pass rushers in the game, and there’s never been any shortage of praise for his work--but he was especially flattered (and motivated) by the lofty ranking given to him by his fellow NFLers.

It’s all about what your peers think about you,” Ware said, per the Dallas Morning News. “The outside world can say what they want to say but your peers really let you know where you stand amongst the whole pack. You feel really good about it and it makes you get ready for the season and makes you work a little harder just to stay there.”

One of Ware’s aforementioned peers, Vikings’ defensive end Jared Allen, recently took his praise of the Dallas linebacker a step further, mentioning Ware by name after telling reporters that he believes a 25-sack season is possible.

“With that coming from Jared Allen, who had 22 (sacks) last year, the sky’s the limit,” Ware said when told of the comments. “I’ll also flip it back on him, and say, he can do the same thing, and also, Jason Babin. They’re playing really well. But it’s all about how the season goes. If it’s more of a passing season, we’re probably going to have more sacks.”
